Acer India, the second largest PC vendor in India, is all set to transform the PC experience with a new generation of computing devices, called Ultrabooks, powered by the second generation Intel Core processor family.

The recent Q2 2011 market research reports from both Gartner and IDC position Acer as the No. 2 PC vendor in the country. Industry watchers believe that with the launch of the world’s thinnest Ultrabook, the Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook, Acer is all set to grow exponentially in the Indian market.

These new class of mobile computers will marry the performance and capabilities of today’s laptops with tablet-like features and deliver a highly responsive and secure experience in a thin, light and elegant design. The Ultrabook will be shaped by Moore’s Law and silicon technology in the same way they have shaped the traditional PC for the past 40 years.

WS Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India said, “In line with our corporate mission, we have time and again designed devices to break barriers between people and technology. We have redefined our position in the marketplace by making India’s first Ultrabook commercially available at a mainstream price. We will continue to focus on our strengths to bring in innovative technologies that would enable consumers to experience technology and derive multiple benefits.”

The Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook integrates the best features of notebooks and tablets, offering users powerful performance for digital creation, in addition to ultra-fast responsiveness and interaction for content consumption, enhancing the freedom and overall computing experiences of users on the go.

“With the launch of the Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook, we have charted a new line of course to the mobile computing world by effortlessly combining the essential features of both a notebook and a tablet. The Aspire S3 Ultrabook will provide newer computing experience to users and we believe this is a major milestone in the history of Acer's product development roadmap,” said S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India.

R Sivakumar, Managing Director - Sales and Marketing Group, Intel South Asia, added here, “Personal computing is undergoing a significant transformation and Intel is leading that transformation with the introduction of Ultrabook devices that provide the most complete and satisfying experience in one device. Ultrabooks are designed to give people the power to both create and share content, all in a thin, light, and elegant device that offers an immersive and responsive experience. Ultrabooks are also designed to deliver no-compromise mobility, built-in security and a range of affordable prices.”

The Acer Aspire S3 will be available at a price of Rs 49,999 onwards.
