The wedding of Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton, which will take place on April 29, 2011, has fueled tremendous interest around the world, with searches worldwide having grown by 1,523 per cent in the last one month.

Yahoo! is hoping to capitalise on this with a new website dedicated to the royal wedding, which they say can safely expect millions of visitors. The Yahoo! site will have articles, photo galleries, videos and a digital guestbook so that visitors can leave their wishes for the royal couple.

The latest news on the royal wedding, plus articles on the wedding trends, fashion, the royal wedding’s participants and guests will all be available on the site, along with pictures of the couple’s courtship, Kate Middleton as a child and more.

On April 29, visitors will also be able to watch a live video stream, and Yahoo! will also be featuring a lot of video from Associated Press, Reuters and ABC News along with original content made in collaboration with ABC News, all of which can also be accessed through a mobile site.

All of this is of course a revenue opportunity for Yahoo!, and the interest in the royal wedding offers advertisers a chance to reach out to a huge global audience.
