Godfather of AI, Geoffrey Hinton, leaves Google
Hinton told the New York Times that he wanted to talk about the dangers of AI
Geoffrey Hinton, known as the Godfather of AI, has moved on from Google. Hinton told the New York Times about his decision and how he was regretting his work.
In a tweet, Hinton said that the reason to quit Google was to "talk about the dangers of AI without considering how this impacts Google".
He was with the tech major for over a decade.
In the NYT today, Cade Metz implies that I left Google so that I could criticize Google. Actually, I left so that I could talk about the dangers of AI without considering how this impacts Google. Google has acted very responsibly.
