Google Maps updated for Mumbai local trains, BEST buses
Google Maps adds support for Mumbai local trains – commuters can use the map by Google to plan journeys using the Mumbai local.
Google has updated its maps offerings yet again. After adding Delhi Metro and Bangalore and Pune Bus routes to their online maps, the Mumbai local routes are also now accessible via Google Maps’ public transport button.
Users of the service need only click on public transport to see the routes for the Mumbai local trains, and if they enter a start point and destination, then the service can plot the best routes for them, taking advantage of the train, and not just the road routes. This service is potentially more useful to visitors to the city, than locals who would be familiar with the trains already, but the Google Maps service also shows routes for the red BEST buses, which could be useful to anyone who isn’t travelling on their usual route.
This information is available both on desktop and on mobile for millions of commuters in Mumbai, arguably the most used public transportation network in India. Transit on Google Maps already includes information for Delhi Metro, Bangalore and Pune bus services in India in addition to 450 cities worldwide.
