Hemant Sachdev has put in his papers as Joint Managing Director of Consumer and Online Businesses at Microsoft India. September 30, 2011, will be his last working day with the organisation.

Talking to exchange4media about his decision, Sachdev said, “I have decided to move on to a career outside Microsoft. It has been a great journey here, but I believe it is time for my next adventure.”

Microsoft officials were unavailable for a comment at the time of filing this report.

With over 20 years’ experience in marketing, straddling retail, strategic and managing operations, Sachdev has headed Microsoft’s Consumer and Online Businesses, which deal with products such as Windows 7, Windows Live, Windows Phone, MSN, Bing Search and other online services.

Prior to joining Microsoft in 2008, Sachdev was Group Director of the Bharti Group. In his role there, he had handled brand leadership for Bharti and the process of driving and maintaining the market for Airtel.

He has also worked with McCann Erickson and Foote Cone and Belding, where he had fostered partnerships across sectors such as telecom, retail, media and entertainment and communication, with global companies.

Sachdev has been the recipient of several awards in the industry such as Marketing Professional of the Year (2002), India’s achievers and Leadership Award for Excellence (2004), Best Marketing Strategy of the Year – Retail (2004), and India’s Top Marketing Director Award (2006), among others.
