There’s dozens of social networks in the world today. They’re doing different things, and have different reach. Some of the networks might not even look like a social network if you’re just thinking about Facebook, but that’s exactly what Wikipedia is too, when you think about it.
Continuing with the series titled ‘Know Your Network’, exchange4media seeks to present the known and not so known social networks from around the world.
Furl is a free social bookmarking site, along the lines of sites like Delicious, Digg and Reddit, which allowed members to share links to webpages, but also has the added function of allowing them to save searchable copies of webpages for easy access.
Users could bookmark, annotate and share pages. Furl bookmarks could also be saved as an archived copy, which is a unique feature of the service, but despite this, the service never became as popular as the big three, and today, new services like Dropbox and Evernote offer the page saving feature as well.
