Komli Media’s Southeast Asia biz bought by Malaysia’s Axiata Group for $11.25 million. The deal includes Komli’s operations in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong. These operations will be consolidated under Axiata’s subsidiary—Adknowledge Asia Pacific.

The Malaysian telecom giant announced this via a regulatory filing. A source with knowledge about the deal confirmed this news to exchange4media and said a deal has been signed pending approvals.

“The acquisition is a compelling strategic opportunity for APAC as it enables APAC to skip past the formative stage of its business plan and scale up its presence and operations in South East Asian region. Komli Asia Group brings with it a geographically diversified revenue and provides a strong strategic fit across digital advertising verticals such as social, video, display and mobile. It also brings in an experienced and deployed talent base of more than 100 sales, ad-ops and other personnel with strong reputation in the region with deeply entrenched relationships with premium publishers and advertisers,” said Axiata in its filing to the Bursa Malaysia.

Axiata also has an approx 19 per cent stake in Indian telecom operator Idea Cellular.
