The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has proposed bringing under its purview OTT content, media reports have said.
So far, content being streamed on digital platforms was coming under the IT ministry. I&B ministry Amit Khare has proposed a convergence of ministries.
Khare has been reported as saying that the country has no regulations for emerging media like OTT unlike the traditional forms of media
In November last year, MIB had said that they were in favour of self-regulation for OTT rather than having a statuory body.
