A look at how netizens responded to US President Donald Trump's first India visit
While brands welcomed Donald Trump with creative moment marketing ideas, netizens took to social media memes to summarise the US President's 36-hours in India
US President Donald Trump landed in Ahmedabad on Monday accompanied by his wife First Lady Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner. During his 36-hour long maiden trip to India, he went to visit Ahmedabad, Agra and Delhi. Although POTUS came to India to have conversations and build bilateral ties, he also allowed social media to buzz with opinions and humour about the little details.
From 'Namaste Trump' to Donald Trump's references on DDLJ or mispronouncing the name of Swami Vivekanand and Trump's unique signature in the visitor's book of Sabarmati Ashram, every activity of President Trump and his wife created headlines and are going viral on social media in the form of memes.
Now when that POTUS is finally back to the US after his successful maiden visit to India, we take a look at how brands, as well as netizens, summarized Trump's India visit.
Being in headlines is not at all new to Trump but a tweet in Hindi from his handle just over an hour before his arrival in India recorded 108K likes and 20.5K comments in roughly 2 hours on Monday. Until now, the tweet has garnered around 40k likes and has been shared by more than 50k people.
From PMO to the entire media, all worked hard to make this short visit a memorable one for Trump.
Interestingly, Doordarshan, the Television Network of Prasar Bharati - India’s Public Broadcaster, did global coverage of the ‘Namaste Trump’ event and US President Trump's visit to India through its English News Channel “DD India”.
For the occasion, Doordarshan deployed a vast fleet of HD OB vans and cameras distributed across multiple locations in the three cities of Ahmedabad, Agra and New Delhi to generate the Live Feed for DD India which will be distributed globally.
All the major American and European TV News networks carried the global live feed of DD India.
Even Indian brands didn't let go of this mega opportunity and cashed in on the US president's visit with some extremely creative moment marketing ideas. This is how brands gave him a branded welcome.
