#NikammiModiSarkar trends as govt retains 51% FDI in multi-brand retail & amends Child Labour Act
Modi govt faced ample social media backlash as people criticized it for not being able to achieve what was promised in the last one year
Anti-Modi supporters took to Twitter to show their disappointment with the Modi government as it heads to complete one year in office on May 26. #NikammiModiSarkar kept on trending throughout the day on Wednesday as people spoke about the failures of the government. Irritant twitterati expressed their anger over the amendment of the Child Labour Act, approved by the Cabinet, which allows children below 14 years can work in non-hazardous industries provided it is only during holidays or after school hours. The original law banned employment of children below 14 years. The BJP- led central government has also retained the previous UPA regime’s decision allowing foreign retailers to open multi-brand stores with 51% ownership, a consolidated FDI policy document released on Tuesday. BJP had opposed this in its manifesto last year during the General Elections, but it has made no changes in the policy this time. As PM Modi leaves for his three-day visit to China today, there has been a lot of backlash and hilarious memes being circulated on social media. To add to this, the Chinese media also takes a dig at the PM and accuses him of ‘using little tricks’ over border issues.
People complained that the government has failed in everything, with the Rupee at a 20-month low, industrial growth being lowest in 2 decades, GDP down, petrol prices up, farmers committing suicide, the general mood of the entire nation is at its lowest.
