Oneindia.in, a portal developing regional content, has launched OneBookmarks.in, claimed to be the first bookmarking website with language options in English and five Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Sriram Hebbar, COO, Greynium Information Technologies Pvt Ltd, of which Oneindia.in is a part, said, “Our aim is to bridge the gap between the growing number of Tier-II or regional Internet users and the surging amount of localised content available on the Internet.”
“While some search engines are introducing localised search facilities, creating a common area for storing searched local content was imperative,” Hebbar added.
OneBookmarks.in will be a common place for all users to store interesting and useful online resources, websites, stories, articles and posts. The unique feature is that users can save URLs and add description or tags in English or regional (Unicode) text using phonetic or inscript language keyboard method.
While users share their bookmarks, other viewers will be able to search through the English or regional language (Unicode) tags, rate the stories, articles and even discuss it with other individuals or friends.
