Mira Chatt, Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy, India, YouTube, has been summoned on January 15 by The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) over the platform's alleged inability to curb child abuse content.

Chatt was asked by NCPCR head Priyank Kanoongo to be present physically at the given date at the statutory body’s office. Failure to appear will result in penalisation or appropriate legal action against YouTube, said reports citing the letter to Chatt by Kanoongo.

NCPCR has instructed Chatt to present a comprehensive list of YouTube channels that show minors subjected to abuse in the name of "challenges."

Reports also say that the cyber cell of Maharashtra police has filed a first information report (FIR) against YouTube India and people who ran channels that featured child abuse. The FIR was reported filed based on a notice sent by NCPCR.
