Bharti Airtel announces senior management changes

Bharti Airtel has announced that Sanjay Kapoor, who has been elevated to CEO (India and South Asia), has taken charge of his new role from March 1, 2010. He was earlier supposed to take charge from April 1. The telecom major has also announced other senior level management elevations effective April 1.

Bharti Airtel has announced that Sanjay Kapoor, who has been elevated to CEO (India and South Asia), has taken charge of his new role from March 1, 2010. He was earlier supposed to take charge from April 1. The telecom major has also announced other senior level management elevations effective April 1.

Dr Jai Menon, who is currently Group CIO, Bharti Enterprises and Director – Technology & Customer Service, Bharti Airtel, will move to the Bharti Group corporate office as Group Director - IT. In his new role, Menon will provide IT leadership for all businesses of Bharti Enterprises. He will establish group IT architecture and security standards and develop an appropriate partner governance mechanism. He will also build strategic group innovation alliances with global majors, such as IBM, Google, Apple and Microsoft. Additionally, Menon would work closely with the International Business Group led by Manoj Kohli and provide Technology and IT expertise.

Amrita Gangotra will take over as Director - IT, Bharti Airtel (India and South Asia) and will report to Sanjay Kapoor. Gangotra has been with Bharti Airtel for over six years and is currently heading the IT operations at Bharti Airtel as CIO - Mobile Services.
