Big FM, in association with Akanksha Foundation, celebrated Teacher’s Day in an interesting style in their studios on September 4, 2012.
The radio station had invited students from Akanksha Foundation at its studio, who then appealed to listeners to take on the responsibility of becoming their teachers and experience the joy of spreading the light of education in others’ lives.
In a prepared statement, Big FM said, “Education is a primary necessity for every child and we are committed to help engage a larger audience and channelise efforts towards this cause. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with Teacher’s Day around the corner and the response has been superb. We have received a phenomenal response from Mumbai and we look forward to partnering with similar ‘Life Banao’ initiatives in the future as well.”
In their conversation with the RJs, the children shared the problems faced by them. They also appealed to the listeners to make efforts to help the children of Akanksha.
“Few realise the transformational impact a teacher can have on the life of a child, especially for those children who do not have access to passionate, skilled educators. For the last 21 years at Akanksha, we have seen firsthand the critical importance that outstanding teachers play in changing the life prospects of children from underserved communities. This Teacher's Day, we invite the most talented, passionate amongst us to join our team and transform not just their students' lives, but their own,” said Vandana Goyal, CEO, Akanksha Foundation.
