Channel [v] to launch Sound Box Music Awards

Channel [v] has tied up with Select Media Holdings to announce the ‘Channel [v] Sound Box Music Awards’, which recognise Bollywood and non-Bollywood Hindi music talent. The Awards show will be produced by Select Media Holding and will be jointly hosted by Channel [v].

Commenting on the initiative, Prem Kamath, General Manager, Channel [v], said, “So far, music has been widely recognised as a category in popular Bollywood awards, but for the first time in India, we are set to recognise and felicitate the contribution of great musicians through an exclusive award function. In terms of scale, scope and bringing the entire music industry, this initiative will be unprecedented.”

He added that they intended to hold the awards as soon as possible and were working on the details. The Awards will be an annual event.

Talking about the association with Channel [v], Rajnish Khanuja, Select Media Holding, said “We are very happy to partner with a young and vibrant brand like Channel [v] and host an award that will bring connoisseurs of Indian music together.”

Speaking of the awards, Bhushan Kumar, Managing Director, T-Series, said, “It gives me immense pleasure that Channel [v] has taken this initiative to recognise the talent that exists in the music industry, and this is sure to be a boost to the music industry at large. We are very happy to support this venture.”

Rajat Kakar, Managing Director, Universal Music India Pvt Ltd, added here, “There is a lot of young and budding talent in the music industry and these awards are sure to give an impetus to their talent and will prove to be a robust platform to recognise them.”

Select Media Holding is one of the largest Indian aggregators of film content for television and its publishing arm, Select Publishing Company, brings out the weekly film trade magazine ‘Box Office India’ and shall shortly be launching ‘Sound Box’, a monthly music magazine.
