It is a tradition that has strengthened the bond between the advertising agencies in India. For the past 19 years, 16 of the top advertising agencies from India have been vying for the top slot at the annual Media TransAsia Cricket Tournament.

This year, it was Cheil Worldwide’s turn to lay their hands on the coveted trophy. Cheil Worldwide beat defending champions Lowe by 55 runs in the finals of the 19th edition of the Media Transasia Cricket Tournament held at the ITM (Institute of Technology Management) Gurgaon recently.

Cheil Worldwide won the toss and chose to bat. They began disastrously losing their first five wickets with just 33 runs on the board in the first eight overs. But the agency made a comeback with two of its players – Ritoo and Dhirendra – scoring a match turning partnership of 81 runs in quick time. Cheil Worlwide scored 140 runs off 20 overs.

When it came to defending the total, Cheil Worlwide’s captain, Aneesh Jaisinghani, led from the front by taking three wickets off his first three overs and one more later on to finish his tally of four wickets from four overs.

In the end, Cheil Worldwide's total of 140 runs proved too much for defending champions Lowe to chase. For the record, Cheil Worldwide beat Rediffussion Y&R in the QFs and Euro RSCG in the SFs to make it to the finals of the tournament.

The prize distribution ceremony attended by Atul Wassan, former Indian Test and ODI player, among others. Ritoo from Cheil Worlwide was declared Man of the Match for the finals. Various other awards were also given away by Wassan: Best Batsman of the Tournament - Rohit (Lowe), Best Bowler of the Tournament - Ritoo (Cheil Worldwide), Best All-rounder of the Tournament - Aneesh Jaisinghani (Cheil Worldwide), and Best Wicketkeeper of the Tournament - R. Venkatasubramaniam (Lowe).
