Chevrolet Beat, India’s most fuel efficient car, has been one of the top performers for GM India this month registering sales of 4796 units.
The December 2011 sales of other carlines comprised 1365 units of Chevrolet Spark, 1927 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 486 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 227 units of Chevrolet Optra, 191 units of Chevrolet Aveo and 47 units of Chevrolet Captiva respectively.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said, “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the encouraging response to Chevrolet Beat. Other carlines like Spark, Cruze and Tavera have also generated substantial volumes for the company. However, unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation, policy paralysis at the centre and negative market sentiments have combined to wreck havoc in the automobile market. We expect the market to remain tight for at least a couple of months to come.”
