Govt nod to community radio station in Dharamshala Cantt
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement with ‘Tibetan Children’s Village School’ for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station (CRS) at Dharamshala Cantonment in Himachal Pradesh.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has signed a Grant of Permission Agreement with ‘Tibetan Children’s Village School’ for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station (CRS) at Dharamshala Cantonment in Himachal Pradesh.
The Letter of Intent had been issued to the organisation after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. The community radio station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS is said to increase to 58 in the country.
The Tibetan Children’s Village School at Lower Dharamshala was established in 1984. Its community radio station will focus on programmes on developmental, agricultural, health, educational, environmental, social welfare and community development issues.
Community radio stations promise to provide an opportunity to the local communities to express themselves, share their views and particularly empower women, youth, marginalised groups to take part in local self governance and overall socio economic and cultural development in the area.
