Mail Today, in association with Meow FM, organised the ‘Whack It League’ in Mumbai on September 19, 2009. Touted as a one-of-its-kind corporate Badminton and Table Tennis Championship, the theme was ‘Craziness on the Court’.
The inaugural edition of ‘Whack It League’ is said to have been a grand success, which saw not only young enthusiasts from the creative and media fraternity, but also saw the big guns of the industry, such as Pratap Bose, CEO, Mudra Max; Nandini Dias, COO, Lodestar Universal; and Ketan Fadia, Managing Director, Gracious Communications, to name a few.
Fountain Head was the event management team of the inaugural tournament. After the enthusiastic response to the inaugural edition, ‘Whack It League’ 2.0 is expected to be even bigger and better.
Speaking to exchange4media, Shripad Kulkarni, CEO, Allied Media, said, “We have come here only to enjoy the game, and looking at the turnout, it’s more like a gettogether. This is a brilliant marketing idea, which only helps in building good relations with both creative and media agencies.”
Fadia said, “This is the first time a publication house has organised a badminton tournament, so congratulations to the Mail Today team and hope there are more such opportunities in future to mix with the industry.”
In conversation with exchange4media, Suresh Balakrishnan, COO, Mail Today, said, “Following the success of the inaugural ‘Whack It League’ tournament, we will make this an annual event. The response we have received in the inaugural League itself has been amazing and we are happy the way the tournament has gone. Next year, ‘Whack It League’ will be bigger and better, it may even be a two-day event and it may probably have prize money also and we may also see it being sponsored.”
