Netflix has slated the premiere of Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli for August 2, 2024.
Directed by Raghav Khanna and co-directed by Tanvi Ajinkya, the documentary delves into the visionary mind of SS Rajamouli, the maker of Baahubali and RRR.
Presented by film journalist Anupama Chopra, Modern Masters is produced by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion.
The documentary is an exploration of Rajamouli's artistic journey, featuring exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and compelling narratives that highlight his profound influence on Indian cinema and his groundbreaking contributions to the art of filmmaking.
“This project marks the dawn of a new sub-genre for Indian documentaries, where intimate, access-driven narratives about Indian artists of international acclaim are brought to the fore,” said Raghav Khanna. “I am immensely grateful to Netflix India for their unwavering support, and to our producers at Applause Entertainment and Film Companion.”
Raghav Khanna has previously led Original Documentary productions in the APAC region for Netflix. His portfolio includes the Academy Award®-winning short documentary Elephant Whisperers, as well as acclaimed titles like House of Secrets, The Hunt for Veerappan, and The Raincoat Killer. Khanna is also the writer and creative director behind the popular food history series Raja, Rasoi aur Anya Kahaniyaan.
Khanna has also announced his forthcoming documentary series, Tiffin Stories, which will be hosted by renowned celebrity chef Asma Khan.
Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix starting August 2, 2024.
