World famous economist Prof. Nouriel Roubini of New York University will be delivering the centennial lecture in memory of Lala Lakshmipat Singhania organized by JK Organization in association with The Economic Times on 2nd December at New Delhi.

JK Organization is celebrating the centenary year of Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, its key architect and a leading industrialist who played a vital role in shaping pre and post independent India’s economic and industrial growth.

Professor Roubini has been a long-time consultant to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other private and public institutions. His views and prophesies on international macroeconomic issues, the Asian and global financial crisis, emerging markets and the reform of the international financial system have been widely discussed.

Prof Roubini has chosen the occasion to speak on the topic ‘Global Outlook: India’s Era of Opportunities and Risks’ as a tribute to Lala Lakshmipat Singhania.

Hari Shankar Singhania, President JK Organization, FICCI Secretary General, Dr Amit Mitra, HSBC Indian Chief, Naina Lal Kidwai and Editorial Director of Business Standard, T N Ninan will engage the celebrated economist in a discussion after the lecture.

“The centenary year of Lala Lakshmipat Singhania is an occasion to deliberate on the changing economic scenario and its impact on industry and society, a topic close to the heart of Lala Lakshmipat Singhania. We are pleased to have Roubini for delivering the centennial lecture,” said Hari Shankar Singhania.

“It is my privilege to speak on the centenary year event of JK Organisation. India has come out largely unscathed during the economic crisis faced by the world. To a large extent it is the cautious optimism strategy as evinced by entities such as JK Organisation that has helped India ride through the rough patch,” said Roubini in a message.

According to a recent compilation by Roubini in Forbes magazine, renowned Indian-origin academician Raghuram Rajan was named alongside US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke and Nobel laureate Paul Krugman among the seven most powerful economists in the world.
