Rajeev Bakshi to join Metro Cash & Carry India

Rajeev Bakshi is joining Metro Cash & Carry India as Vice-President and Managing Director-Designate effective June 1, 2010. Bakshi will officially take over as Managing Director from Sylweriusz Faruga on December 1, 2010 after an intensive induction program with Metro Group’s international operations.

Rajeev Bakshi is joining Metro Cash & Carry India as Vice-President and Managing Director-Designate effective June 1, 2010. Bakshi will officially take over as Managing Director from Sylweriusz Faruga on December 1, 2010 after an intensive induction program with Metro Group’s international operations.

Meanwhile, after two years of successful work for Metro India, Faruga will take over another senior position within the Metro Group, effective December 1, 2010. “I am very happy that I am contributing with my experience in Metro Group to further build up the brand in India. I am looking forward to working together with Rajeev Bakshi to strengthen the India operations and ensure a smooth transition,” Faruga said.

Bakshi has held senior leadership positions in companies like ICICI Venture, PepsiCo and Cadbury, having started his career at Lakme Ltd.

Commenting on Bakshi’s appointment, James Scott, Regional Operating Officer Asia, Metro Cash & Carry International, said, “We are glad to have Rajeev Bakshi, a veteran in the consumer goods industry with over 30 years of international experience, on board. This is a clear sign for our long-term commitment to the Indian market and our determination to tap the enormous potential of the Sub-continent.”
