Surya TV, Kairali TV shine at Kerala State Awards

The Kerala State Awards were given away recently. Announcing the awards on November 15 at a well-attended ceremony, Kerala Education and Cultural Minister MA Baby informed that 15 telefilms, three tele-serials and five tele-series had come up before the jury for consideration in the story section.

The Best Tele-Serial Award went to ‘Daya’, directed by Saji Surendran and aired on Kairali TV. Former Kerala Transport Minister and noted actor KB Ganesh Kumar was adjudged the Best Tele-Serial Actor for his role in ‘'Madhavan’, aired on Surya TV. Meera Vasudev bagged the Best Actress Award for her role in ‘'Kanalpoove’, aired on Kairali TV.

In the non-story category, the Best Award for Documentary went to ‘16 mm: Memories, Movements and Machine’, directed by KR Manoj, who also won the Best Documentary Director’s Award.

The Best News Reader Award went to S Sarathchandran, while Best Compere Award went to R Sreekantan Nair. John Birtas was adjudged the Best Interviewer.

Best Tele-Film Award went to ‘Typewriter’, directed by T Deepesh, who also bagged the Award for Best Screenplay Writer.
