Announcing the second year of the NDTV Good Times Food Awards, Smeeta Chakrabarti, Chief Executive Officer, NDTV Lifestyle, said, “After the overwhelming response we received last year, we are really looking forward to present the second year of the NDTV Good Times Food Awards. This year we’re raising the bar, and pulling out all stops in make the awards bigger than they have ever been. Also, with the introduction of the Viewers’ Choice award category this year, we hope to involve our loyal viewers in the process of choosing their favourite foodie city.”

This year, the awards consist of two categories – Jury categories and the Viewer’s Choice award.

The Viewer’s Choice Award category involved on ground voting. For this, 10 cities across the country have been short listed based on public inputs and distribution numbers. 100 ballot boxes (replicas of the Award’s trophy) have been sent to these cities and popular restaurants in these cities have kept the ballot boxes for a period of 3-4 weeks from November 10, 2011 onwards. The bills in the restaurants will be accompanied by a voting chit that will enlist all 10 cities as options.

Customers will choose their preferred option and drop it in the ballot box stationed at the restaurant with their details. At the end of four weeks the ballot boxes will be brought back to Delhi for tabulation by the Ernst & Young team. These votes, along with the SMS and online figures, will decide the winning city.

One lucky person and the restaurant that gets the maximum number of votes from the winning city will stand a chance to attend the gala night in Delhi.

All awards are based on achievements during the preceding 12 months to the award’s ceremony itself.
