TOI and Petrotech launches Walkathon 2010

The Times of India and Petrotech have launched an initiative ‘Let’s Walk: Petrotech Walkathon 2010’ which seeks to awaken the masses towards better use of fuel. It will encourage the society to take efforts towards a better lifestyle, health and environment.

The Times of India and Petrotech have launched an initiative ‘Let’s Walk: Petrotech Walkathon 2010’ which seeks to awaken the masses towards better use of fuel. It will encourage the society to take efforts towards a better lifestyle, health and environment.

Speaking on the association, CR Srinivasan, Director, Times of India, said, “As the country’s leading media group, it is our endeavor to work towards the betterment of our city. We are glad that Petrotech gave us an opportunity to co-create an idea which is core to making a difference for an improved future.”

At 1.15 billion people, Indians are consuming natural resources at an unprecedented pace. The Walkathon would be held at Dhyan Chand Stadium, New Delhi on October 24, 2010. The flag off for the walkathon would be done by the Indian Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Murli Deora.

Elaborating on the initiative, CMD, ONGC, Mr. R S Sharma said, The Walkathon is to demonstrate the commitment of Indian hydrocarbon industry, as also to create better awareness towards energy conservation. Let’s walk to save fuel, and in the process, improve health.”

The walkathon is expected to attract 3,000 participants who will show their unity by wearing the campaign T-shirt. Also, participating in the walkathon would be various NGO’s propagating their respective causes.
