ViziSense, one of India’s leading online audience measurement and analytics platform released its monthly web rankings of the top five sites by category. According to the web ranking, the top five social networking sites in the month of October 2009 are Orkut with 15.5 million unique users followed by Facebook.com with 10.3 mn unique users, Bharatstudent.com with 2.42 mn unique users, Linkedin.com with 2.24 mn and Ibibo.com with 1.97 mn unique users.

Interestingly, online audience measurement and analytics platform also stated that Facebook continues to be the fastest growing social networking site in India. While Facebook in October 2009 saw the highest increase in 2009 with 19 per cent reach, a trend similarly followed by Flickr, whose numbers jumped by 21 per cent as compared to last month, Linkedin on the other hand according to ViziSense continues to grow its presence steadily as a professional networking site, with a surge of four per cent.

In the photo and video sharing category, Youtube.com lead the pack with 10.9 million unique users, followed by Facebook (overall) with 10.3 mn unique users, Metacafe.com with 2.73 mn, Filestube.com with 1.79 mn and Flickr.com with 1.73 mn unique users.

The top five in the category of ‘classifieds’ (B2C) for the month of October 2009 Include Quikr.com, currently leading the web ranking in the month of October 2009 with 4.25 million unique users as compared to 1.16 mn unique users in July 2009 when it was ranked fifth. Rank two in this category is Clickindia.com with 2.84 mn unique users in October as compared to 2.80 mn users in July 2009 when it ranked one. Sulekha.com in October 2009 saw 2.83 mn unique users followed by Justdial.com 1.94 mn and Olx.in 1.68 mn unique users.

In the eCommerce (B2C) category for October 2009 saw Ebay with 1.99 mn unique users ranked one followed by Amazon.com with 1.19 mn users, Rediff Shopping with 1.16 mn unique users, Bookmyshow.com with 1.06 mn unique users and in fifth rank Indiatimes Shopping with 0.80 mn unique users.

The top five sites by category released every month aims to provide a macro view of traffic and popularity metrics across key categories with insights into the top performing online properties, audience reach and usage, audience duplication within the category, and so on.
