CVC Capital Partners names its Ahmedabad IPL franchise as Gujarat Titans

Indian Premier League's (IPL) Ahmedabad franchise has named its team, Gujarat Titans. The Ahmedabad franchise is owned by Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners). Irelia had bid Rs 5625 crore to bag the Ahmedabad franchise for 10 years.

Debuting in the 15th season of the IPL, the Gujarat Titans will pay tribute to the state’s rich cricketing legacy, which has seen it produce countless Indian international cricket legends over the years. The franchise is inspired by the opportunity to represent and build on this deep cricketing heritage, as well as build on its future success on the pitch.

CVC Capital Partners Partner, TMT and India Siddharth Patel said, “Our core philosophy of being both a courageous and open-hearted team has inspired every decision as we built this franchise from the ground up. We want this group to achieve great things for Gujarat and its many passionate fans, which is why we have chosen the name ‘Titans’. Our aim for this cricketing franchise is to be one of the most inspiring and inclusive anywhere in the world, which will help to underpin its long-term success and reputation.

As one of the two newest teams to join the league, Gujarat Titans have been active in building the squad, coaching and management team. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as Team Captain, with spin wizard Rashid Khan and young batting talent Shubman Gill also selected as squad members. The cricket team management will be led by Vikram Solanki, who will hold the position of Director of Cricket, with Ashish Nehra as the Head Coach. Gary Kirsten will act as the Titans’ Mentor and Batting Coach.
