Thirty-three matches on, IPL3 is witnessing a dip in viewership, not surprising since the ratings are bound to see some slowdown in the middle of the tournament. On the other hand, the average TVR for the last 33 matches during IPL3 touched 4.67 per cent as compared to 4.20 per cent and 4.69 per cent TVR during the inaugural season of IPL.

Although, season one of IPL still remains higher than IPL3, the gap has been narrowed down and what remains to be seen is whether IPL3 finally manages to overtake the TVR seen in Season 1. While the ratings may not be that impressive, IPL3 has delivered a reach of 130 million, which is much more than the previous two years.

According to TAM, in the CS4+ category, all India market, IPL3 matches held from March 28 to April 3, 2010, a total of 10 matches, have delivered an average TVR of 4.50 per cent.

These 10 matches have not seen ratings above 5 per cent and not surprisingly, Mumbai Indians again helped the tournament garner more viewership. The highest was a TVR of 5.94 per cent for the match between Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers on Sunday evening, March 28.

The second highest TVR was again received for a match involving Mumbai Indians. This match, which was played against Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday evening, March 30, received a TVR of 5.42 per cent.

Besides Mumbai Indians, the other teams that scored a TVR in the range of 5 per cent are Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers. The match involving the two teams was played on Thursday evening, April 1.

The lowest TVR received was in the range of 2-3 per cent, and the matches that received such low ratings were played in the afternoon. A match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore received a TVR of 2.62 per cent, the lowest. Another match during the afternoon time was played between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, which received a TVR of 3.18 per cent.
