With the start of IPL3, iDubba has launched some features that allow users to set team-specific and player-specific alerts so that they need not worry about missing their favourite player batting or bowling during the match. Therefore, whenever the user’s favourite team or players are on television, iDubba sends them SMS alerts. Another feature initiated is ‘IPL prediction game’, wherein users can predict which team will win and who will score how many runs or take wickets.

iDubba is an online and mobile platform that helps users get instant information about what’s happening on TV based on their profile, geography and behaviour.

The iDubba report gives various details such as which is the most watched team in IPL3 or the time when viewership of a particular IPL match increases, besides this, it also contains details like which cities are most active in watching IPL versus the team they like to watch on television.

This report is expected to be helpful for broadcasters, advertisers and media planners. Broadcasters can use this report to understand the downtime in viewership on MAX and can showcase their own special programmes or features based on the data provided by iDubba.

The advertisers, on the other hand, can use this report to understand the popularity of particular teams and players, which may help them in targeting their advertisements better and to the right audience.

On the basis of SMS alerts set against each team, Mumbai Indians is the favourite team among television viewers, Deccan Chargers is a distant second, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. Rajasthan Royals is the least preferred team for setting alerts.

The number of players from each team for whom SMS alert is set are from Mumbai Indians with nearly 20 per cent, followed by Deccan Chargers a distant second with nearly 10 per cent, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals.

The top players on iDubba against whom maximum alerts set are Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Andrew Symonds and Brendon McCullum.

In conversation with exchange4media, Rabi Gupta, Founder, idubba.com, said, “The aim of this report is to give a detailed view of user’s behaviour, reaction and their likings towards IPL. Since most of the reports I saw on IPL gave a very top-level view of what was happening, we decided to give a very detailed report based on the data we collected. In future, we would also like to provide more reports with much detailed data and analysis based on our website’s unique features.”

He further explained, “IPL as a property is huge, its brand name is bigger than most of the businesses, but it may lose the steam if advertisers start asking for justifications for huge money they are paying. The next level of ad inventory selling for IPL should be more detailed. For instance, the advertisement played before Sachin Tendulkar comes to bat on ground should sell higher than when Dwayne Bravo comes. And with iDubba’s services, these advertisers can target their audience as well as get an understanding of user behaviour before putting their money behind. There are some interesting facts like Dwayne Bravo is more popular than Rahul Dravid when it comes to setting alerts or more than Kolkata, the people of Kathmandu are interested in team Kolkata Knight Riders.”

The iDubba report, titled ‘User behavior and IPL Team analytics- IPL 2010’, will be released thrice during IPL3. After this report, the second report would be published just before the semi-finals and last one is expected to be released after the final.
