Ads could now appear in WhatsApp Status messages or its Channels feature in a bid to monetise the popular messaging platform, according to reports quoting WhatsApp head Will Cathcart.
The top exec reportedly told Brazilian media that these ads will appear exclusively in the story-like feature of the app and not inside the chat windows.
“There could be ads in other places — channels or status. For example, channels might charge people to subscribe, they might be exclusive to paid members or the owners might want to promote the channel. But, no, we won’t put ads in your inbox,” Cathcart reportedly said.
