Airtel and HTC bring some bling factor to mobile communication in India

HTC, a global company dealing in mobile phone innovation and design, and Bharti Airtel have announced a strategic alliance to introduce the HTC Touch Diamond phone in India exclusively on the Airtel network. The HTC Touch Diamond, priced at Rs 27,500, will be available through Airtel in top 25 cities across India from the second week of June.

HTC, a global company dealing in mobile phone innovation and design, and Bharti Airtel have announced a strategic alliance to introduce the HTC Touch Diamond phone in India exclusively on the Airtel network. The announcement marks the successful partnership of HTC and Airtel with the strategic intent to offer a wider range of world-class devices in India. The HTC Touch Diamond, priced at Rs 27,500, will be available through Airtel in top 25 cities across the country priced from the second week of June.

Under this exclusive tie-up, the HTC Touch Diamond smartphone will offer a wide range of services, including YouTube application for watching video content. Besides, it will give access to Airtel Live for providing entertainment on mobile.

Peter Chou, President & CEO, HTC Corp, said, “The launch of the Touch Diamond phone in India marks a new era in mobile phone evolution, which will further catalyse the growth of Internet on mobile in the fastest growing telecom market in the world.”

Commenting on the partnership, Syed Safawi, Executive Director - Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel, said, “Our partnership with HTC to introduce India’s first 3D touch interface – called TouchFLO 3D – underlines our commitment to innovation. HTC Diamond will have one touch access to Airtel Live giving customers easy access to download a variety of games, pictures, video clips, movies, ring tones etc. This phone will be available exclusively on Airtel.”

Regarding the advertising plans, Chou said, “We will advertise on all major media like print, Internet, TVC as well as below-the-line activities. We have an in-house creative team that works on the advertisements. We haven’t hired any ad agency in India. The campaigns would be unveiled by mid-June.”
