Reporter’s Diary: A breath of fresh air

Working for a media company that caters to the creative world of marketers and advertisers, marks a new chapter in this reporter’s life. This is a page from her diary

After years of working in the business technology domain and writing about cloud computing and business intelligence over and over again, working at exchange4media is like a welcome breath of fresh air. Now don’t get me wrong. I didn’t hate writing about IT (Information Technology) but after almost six years, it had lost its charm. Also, it didn’t challenge me anymore.

At the risk of sounding cocky, I was tired of seeing the same faces time and again (I hope Chief Information Officers don’t read this). However, I did make some great friends in the CIO community and I will surely miss them.

Working in a media company that caters to the advertising, marketing and media industry is a new chapter in my life and I am eager to fill its pages with some colourful experiences. This creative world has a lot to offer and I want to soak in as much as I can.

I have come to love the vibrancy of this industry in the last 10 days that I have been here (It strangely feels that I have been here much longer). With so much happening every single day, it is difficult for boredom to set in. I love the adrenalin rush and the challenge that my new job gives me.

I am excited that I will get to meet some truly creative people. I am looking forward to interacting with the genius minds behind the ingenious ads that I admire.

Sitting here, thinking about what I should write next has forced me to introspect. It has dawned on me that chance meetings with few really passionate people has shaped my career. I have been lucky to have met those people when I did. I have learnt what I know today because of some great seniors who had the patience and inclination to teach me when I was a rookie. And now it pushes me to be extra nice to freshers that I come across (At least I try). My mentor was the first person in my life who told me that I had qualities to have a good career. For that I will be eternally grateful.

Coming back to my new job, I look forward to learning from my seniors and peers. My team has given me a very warm welcome and for that I would like to thank them. I hope my new innings will be fulfilling and successful. Fingers crossed.
