The Association of Indian Magazines (AIM) has submitted a representation from its President Anant Nath to the Telangana Chief Minister, requesting budgetary support of the government for promoting the cause of reading amongst the citizens.

AIM is the unified voice of more than 40 magazine publishers across the country, representing more than 200 magazines. “We believe that in this day and age of misinformation in the online world, magazines fill an important void for credible and well-researched content, which is extremely important to nurture a socially responsible and informed citizenry. Magazine editorial teams carefully curate content that is fact-checked, reasoned, and meant to inform and educate readers.”

“We write to you on behalf of Indian magazines to promote the cause of credible reading in your state. Through various ministries and departments- education, public libraries, higher education, SCERT, Panchayati Raj, and others your government has the power to sanction budgetary support for magazines, which can go a long way in fulfilling many of the social responsibility goals that you stand for.”

AIM has sought a meeting with a delegation of AIM publishers. “Further, there are multiple ways in which magazines can play an active role in promoting the great work being done under your leadership, and magazine publishers would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the same.”
