Gujarati daily Divya Bhaskar stepped up its Rajkot edition to a full fledged one from November 1, 2006. This move made by Bhaskar group not only consolidates its position in Ahmedabad, Surat and Baroda, but also strengthens its position in Gujarat as a whole.
Bharat Kapadia, Executive Director, said, “Divya Bhaskar’s Rajkot edition was a satellite edition that was printed at Ahmedabad. The independent Rajkot edition of Divya Bhaskar has more scope in the market and is expected to grow further.”
The results of the NRS 2006 show that the Bhaskar Group continues to be the largest newspaper group with a readership of 2.65 million. The Bhaskar Group is the largest in the print media industry in India with its flagship Hindi daily newspaper, Dainik Bhaskar and Divya Bhaskar.
Bhaskar Group is a Rs 2,000 crore business conglomerate with strong presence in newspapers, television, entertainment, printing, textiles, FMCG, oils, solvents and Internet services.
