Reshuffle at Indian Express Group

As management experts say, what affects an organisation’s efficiency profoundly is its internal environment. The internal changes that have just taken place at The Indian Express point to this factor.
The reshuffling of the editorial team sees people moving out of their current profiles to new roles. YP Rajesh, who has been Resident Editor, Mumbai since 2008 moves to New Delhi as Associate Editor of The Indian Express.
Also, Deputy Editor P Vaidyanathan Iyer moves to Mumbai as Resident Editor of The Indian Express. He was Deputy Resident Editor and then Resident Editor, The Financial Express in New Delhi. Most recently, he was National Business Editor of The Indian Express.
“I think it brings more focus and puts a lot more energy behind the editorial ideas and concepts that we are working on,” said Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, The Indian Express.
Readers can expect changes that would bring in more analyses, in-depth stories, and long-format stories (that have gone out of fashion). This will also bring in product differentiation, Gupta pointed out.
The changes also include Subhomoy Bhattacharya, Executive Editor (News), The Financial Express moving to The Indian Express as Deputy Editor. He will take charge of the national economy and business bureau.
Sunil Jain, Opinion Editor, The Financial Express will now be the Assistant Managing Editor (Opinion and Policy). Additionally, Shobhana Subramanian, Resident Editor, The Financial Express, Mumbai moves to New Delhi as Assistant Managing Editor (News).
“These changes will infuse more talent and energy into our editorial teams, both at The Indian Express and The Financial Express,” observed Gupta.
