10 TV channel licences granted, 3 cancelled
While eight of the channels granted licence by the MIB are in the non-news category, two fall in the news section
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has granted 10 new TV channel licences.
MIB has also cancelled three licences as they are no longer required by the owners.
In all, the total number of licences has gone up to 919 while the number of cancelled licences stands at 290.
The licences have been granted to Khusboo Multimedia, Hari Bhoomi Communications, Kasthuri Medias, and Ganesh Digital Networks (2 each), Shraddha M.H One TV and Live India Today Entertainment (1 each).
While eight of the channels are in the non-news category, two are news.
The ministry has also revoked licences of The Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Pvt Ltd and ZEEL.
