Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox has been in talks with The Walt Disney Company to sell most of the assets including FX, National Geographic, movie studio, TV production and international assets such as Star and Sky, according to a report by CNBC.
The two parties have been in talks, albeit not regularly, since the past few weeks.
The report said 21st Century Fox will be left with just news and sports if the talks reach its logical conclusion. Discussions are likely to restart soon, said the report.
Given the sheer market size of 21st Century Fox’s Star India, the potential deal could significantly alter the media landscape in India.
