Holi is a festival of many hues and happiness, and to add to the fun and frolic, television channels have conceived several special programmes. Kids channel Nick is airing a special slime for Holi with its all new ‘Gili Gili Gappa’, which premieres on March 15 at 4.30 pm and will air every Friday thereafter at the same time.

The fast-paced show embodies Nick’s characteristic features – noise, mess and slime. The first international version of Nick’s Guinness World Record breaking gameshow ‘Slimetime Live’, ‘Gili Gili Gappa’ is hosted by two fresh faces – the quirky Nischint (aka Nishu) and the lively Aaliyah. This spunky duo tries to keep order while contributing to the chaos, Nick style.

In ‘Gili Gili Gappa’, two teams go head to head in each of the six unique games like Mooh Phat, Aas Paas Bandar Gili Gili Andar and SpongeBum Gili Chaddi. The finale round, called Holi Hai, has the two winners up against each other for the big challenge, vying for Nick’s ultimate honour – a chance to sit under the ‘Gili Gili Gappa’ machine for a complete sliming. But they’re not the only ones who get to participate and get a taste of Gili Gili. The eliminated contestants also get into the act equipped with water balloons, Gili Gili shooters and popcorn as they try to influence the outcome.

‘Gili Gili Gappa’ functions as links between the four shows on the two-hour NickToons block Trollz, Chalk Zone, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron and SpongeBob SquarePants. As Hema Govindan put it, “It’s the final touch to our ace NickToons block.”

HBO, too, has lined up exciting movies for the colourful day. The movie channel will be showcasing five back-to-back popular movies the entire day on Wednesday. Viewers can treat themselves to movies like ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’, ‘Dreamcatcher’, ‘S1m0ne’, ‘50 First Dates’ and ‘Godzilla’, starting from 11.30 am to the last movie screening at 9.00 pm.

This year NDTV has a special guest for India’s bravehearts in Leh – Mallika Sherawat, who will be celebrating Holi with the soldiers – and which will be telecast in a special episode of ‘Jai Jawan’ on NDTV.

Zee TV, too, has spun off changes to get into the Holi spirit. Its popular television serial, ‘Saat Phere’, will have about three episodes celebrating Holi.
