Dayanidhi Maran, former Telecom minister and DMK leader has been asked by the Madras High Court to surrender within three days to the CBI. Maran was being investigated by the CBI on the misusing of his post as telecom minister to illicitly construct an underground telecom exchange at his Chennai residence and was claimed to use hundreds of data cables to benefit Sun TV Network owned by brother Kalanithi Maran.

Maran’s interim or temporary bail was cancelled today according to news report. The Sun TV Groups security licenses for the 33 TV channels had also been denied by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the basis of the group’s association in this case. 
Apart from this Maran has also been allegedly charged with corruption in another case for refusing to grant crucial clearances to Aircel till the owner agreed to sell the firm to a Malaysian-based entrepreneur who had made large investments in Sun TV group.
