DD FreeDish: Prasar Bharati to hold auction for vacant MPEG-4 slots from March 27
Only satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of I&B would be allowed to participate in the e-auction
Doordarshan will conduct 39th online e-Auction for filling up of vacant MPEG-4 slots of DD Free Dish DTH Platform with effect from March 27, 2019.
The announcement regarding this was made by Prasar Bharati on Twitter.

According to the guidelines set by the government for the auction, only satellite channels licensed by the Ministry of I&B would be allowed to participate in the e-auction. International public broadcasters licensed/registered by the Ministry of I&B can also participate in e-auction for MPEG-4.
“Only companies holding valid permission from Ministry of I&B or their authorized distributor partners can apply for allocation of DD Free Dish slot. If bidder Company is other than channel license holder, the letter/agreement signed between license Holder Company and Distributor Company authorizing the bidder for distribution of the channel and bidding on behalf of the channel must be submitted,” a statement from Prasar Bharati read.
The bidding in the e-auction of vacant unreserved MPEG-4 slots will be for an initial period open to all genre (language) channels at an invitation reserve price of Rs 5 lakhs.
The last date for submission of applications is March 25 by 1PM.
If required, Prasar Bharati/Doordarshan can extend e-auction to the next day or as the case may be, the statement mentioned.
Recently, Prasar Bharati made around Rs 395 crore from auction of 40 DD FreeDish slots.
