The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday extended the deadline for submission of feedback and suggestions from the public on the draft Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill 2023 till January 15, 2024.

Earlier, the ministry had granted time till December 9, 2023 to the general public or stakeholders to submit their suggestions or comments on the bill.

“In response to the representations received from the various quarters with reference to this Ministry's Public Notice dated November 10, 2023… this Ministry has decided to extend the deadline for furnishing suggestions/ feedback/comments/inputs/views by any person/stakeholders on the draft Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill 2023 up to 15.01.2024,” the ministry said in its notice.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has proposed Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill 2023 to establish a consolidated legal framework for the entire broadcasting sector, seeking to replace the existing Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 or any other policy guidelines currently governing the broadcasting sector in the country.
