FreeDish MPEG-2 auction: Prasar Bharati earns over Rs 288 crore in 2 days

The pubcaster sold 13 slots in the last two days of the FreeDish MPEG-2 auction

As the second day of auction ended, Prasar Bharati collected nearly Rs 288 crore from the 13 slots sold in the last two days. The slots are being allotted for one year, from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.

According to the sources, Bucket A+ which comprises GEC channels had six slots. They were secured by channels including Manoranjan TV, Manoranjan Grand, Mastt, Dangal, Sun Neon and The Q. The Bucket A+ witnessed the highest bid of Rs 21.25 crore and lowest was Rs 19.05 crore. The entire bucket with six slots was sold for over Rs 123 crore. 

The reserve price for General Entertainment Channels (GEC) - Hindi or Urdu - in Bucket A+ was fixed at Rs 15 crore. 

Meanwhile the pubcaster has earned Rs 171.5 crore from Bucket A, which consists of movie channels in Hindi/Urdu language with six slots. The reserve price for Bucket A was priced at Rs 12 crore. The highest bid in the category was Rs 18.30 crore and lowest was Rs 17.50 crore. The channels that secured slots are Colors Rishtey Cineplex, Zee Anmol Cinema, Star Utsav Movies, Colors Cineplex Bollywood, Star Gold Thrill, and Sony Wah. 

Chumbak TV secured a slot for Rs 16.75 crore in Bucket B which comprises music, sports, all channels of bhojpuri language and all other remaining genres of Hindi/Urdu priced at Rs 10 crore.  

Auction for other categories will continue today.
