Hindi GECs to unveil various new shows as IPL 11 to wrap up on May 27

exchange4media takes a look at some of the upcoming fiction and non-fiction properties in the Hindi GEC space

When it comes to cricket, the nation's favourite sport clearly overshadows everything that comes its way, films and TV shows included. In the last 10 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), we saw cricket putting daily soaps on the backburner for even the most ardent daily soap fans. However, this year was a tad different with broadcasters putting a stop to this traditional thinking as they launched shows such as Khichdi, Ishq Subhaan Allah and a few more around the current IPL season. What broadcasters did was to make sure they do not launch any particularly big budget shows.

As the eight weeks of IPL excitement will come to an end on May 27, Hindi GECs are all set to present a bouquet of new shows for the audience. Also encashing on summer vacations, a much-awaited line up of fiction and non- fiction shows are all set to hit television screens.

Star India’s Hindi GEC, Star Plus launched shows like Khichdi and Kulffi Kumar Bajewala near the IPL 11. But the channel is all set to launch four more shows post IPL. Mariam Reporting Live which will be launched on 21 May at 7.30pm, Krishna Chali London airs on 21 May 9pm. Apart from that Dil Hai Hindustani Season2 and Sabse Smart Kaun are also set to release soon.

Colors will be launching the second season of it's suspense drama series Dev 2. Apart from that the much awaited show of Colors TV, Naagin 3 is also in the pipeline. Roop-Mard Ka Naya Swaroop, Dance Deewane and Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka are among the few shows that will go on air in the coming weeks.
Sony Entertainment Television will bring back a new season of Dus Ka Dum with Salman Khan. Dil Hi Toh Hai and Crossroads will also hit TV screens after IPL.

Zee TV recently launched two new shows Ishq Subhan Allah and Juzzbaat around IPL 11. The channel is now working on it's next offering, the next season of kids talent show, India’s Best Dramebaaz.

Other GECs including Sab TV, &TV and Star Bharat, also plan to launch various new shows including Alladin, Mitegi Lakshman Rekha and Muskaan.
