IRS 2017: DTH/Digital TV up from 26% to 45%
Punjab has witnessed highest growth, of more than 50% DTH penetration, followed by HP and J&K
Indian Readership Survey 2017, one of the world's largest surveys, was released on January 18 after a four-year gap. According to the released numbers, the total DTH and digital TV has gone up from 26 % to 45 %. The survey also shows that TV ownership has witnessed a 14 % increase since 2011.
Also the survey reported that Punjab has witnessed highest growth of more than 50% DTH penetration followed by Himachal Pradesh with upto 50% and Jammu and Kashmir with more than 40% growth whereas West Bengal saw less than 10% growth.
As per the IRS report, many markets offer potential for non-TV media. The percentage of non TV media is highest in Bihar followed by Jharkhand and UP with close to 60%.
