The Ministry of Information and Broadcast (MIB) recently has issued a letter to State Governments to extend Right of Way (RoW) to cable operators for laying of cables or erecting posts. This is part of MIB’s initiative to push for completion of Phase III and IV of Digitization in India.

The letter further states that Sec 4B of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 with regards to regards to State Governments requiring to grant RoW for cable operators for the same. Further attached with the letter in the annexure were extracts of Sec 4B of the Cable Act given as a reference. It further requested the State Governments to issue instructions to field officers to extend the facility of RoW to the cable operators.   

Giving the respective dates for the 4 phases of DAS and the subsequent completion of the first two, it had mentioned the deadlines for the modified deadlines of the Phase III on December 31, 2015 and Phase IV on December 31, 2016.
