Over 15 employees exit Disney Star
As per sources, some senior executives have also moved out of the network
At least 15 employees have quit Disney Star with industry sources saying that the exits involves senior executives as well.
Among the ones who have left, are Vikas Sachdeva, Senior Manager for outbound sales in India. He has moved on after a decade-long association.
Apart from him, Soumyadutt Nag, Senior Director, Customer Strategy (Revenue Team) and Pratik Khot, Digital Operations, have exited the company.
In the last few months, several people have moved on from Disney India. Recently, Star TV’s VP Sales Natasha Sharma moved on from the company after her stint of eight years. Viacom18 recently roped in Saket Sahay, who was the Vice President, Sales at Star Sports for nearly 9 years.
In its fourth-quarter earnings for FY2023, Walt Disney reported a 9% decline in revenue from linear networks in the entertainment segment in Q4 FY23 and attributed a 21% drop in sports revenue to Star (India).
In the sports segment, revenue from Star India stood at $92 million for the fourth quarter this fiscal, down from $116 million in the same quarter last year.
The operating income from Star India also saw a decline of 29% in Q4 FY23 from $17 million to $12 million.
