Rathikant Basu was Executive Chairman of Star India between 1996 and 2001, DG of Doordarshan and MIB Additional Secy from 1993 to 1996; Was Secretary of Department of Electronics too
Rathikant Basu, the Chairman & CEO of Broadcast Worldwide Limited, passed away on Sunday. He was 82.
Rathikant Basu held many key posts in the M&E industry, He was the Executive Chairman of Star India between 1996 and 2001.
He served as the Director General of Doordarshan and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from 1993 to 1996. He was later appointed Secretary of the Department of Electronics.
Basu was also associated with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited for 5 years as the Executive Director.
RIP Mr Basu. Almost all of us who started in television in the Nineties owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
