According to media reports, an advertisement has been published to fill Sharma’s position
TRAI Chairman R S Sharma’s 5-year-old tenure will come to an end this September, media reports have said.
Sharma, whose term was extended in 2018, will also reach his retirement age of 65.
According to media reports, an advertisement has been published to fill Sharma’s position.
Sharma was first appointed as TRAI Chairman for a period of three years in July 2015. Prior to that he had served as the IT Secretary. Sharma took up the position occupied earlier by Rahul Khullar.
In a recent interaction with exchange4media on NTO 2.0, Sharma had said that they were open to discussions with stakeholders. "TRAI is open to discussions with broadcasters to address any issues they have around the amendments to NTO."
TRAI’s target is to address the issues they have observed in one year of NTO implementation. “NTO 2.0 is in favour of consumer freedom,” Sharma had said.
