Adam & Eve/DDB has appointed Miranda Hipwell, its chief client officer, as its new chief executive, replacing Helen Andrews, who left last month.

Hipwell, who has worked at Adam & Eve/DDB for almost 12 years, takes on her new role immediately and will report to Tammy Einav, executive chair at Adam & Eve/DDB.

The agency's chief strategy officer Martin Beverley and chief financial officer Mark Watkins will report to Hipwell in her position as chief executive. Rick Brim, the global chief creative officer, continues to report to Alex Lubar, DDB's global chief executive.

Adam & Eve/DDB will not immediately replace Hipwell as chief client officer. She will work with Einav, Brim and Beverley to define the future shape of the agency's management team.

Prior to becoming chief client officer at Adam & Eve/DDB at the time of Andrews’ appointment to chief executive, Hipwell was group managing director, a role she took on in January 2022.

Einav said, “Miri has been a key part of this agency’s success for the last 12 years – her love, experience and commitment to all areas of the business come through in everything she does. I know she will lead the agency with a clear vision and all of us behind her.”

Formed by the merger of Adam & Eve and DDB London in 2012, Adam & Eve/DDB grew to be one of the UK's largest creative agencies. This year it said goodbye to long-time client John Lewis & Partners but has picked up accounts including Amazon, BT Business and Halifax.

Hipwell started at Adam & Eve/DDB as an account director on the John Lewis account in January 2012. The agency promoted her to business director in September 2013 and again to managing partner and director of client excellence in December 2017.

Hipwell said: “To say I am delighted to become the CEO of Adam & Eve/DDB doesn’t quite cover it. There’s so much good here – the work, the people, our culture and clients; to create the right conditions for future growth in every aspect is an incredible opportunity. I couldn’t be prouder of the agency and know our creativity and energy will continue to drive success for us and our partners.”

Einav appointed Andrews, a former managing director of Wieden & Kennedy London, as chief executive of Adam & Eve/DDB in April after deciding to step up to chair of the agency. Andrews departed the agency in October after just four months.
