MENA added to Gaurav Gandhi's portfolio at Prime Video
Gaurav Gandhi, it is believed, will continue to be stationed in Singapore for his APAC role
Gaurav Gandhi, who is Vice President-Asia Pacific for Amazon’s video streaming service Prime Video, will now also be leading the MENA market for the streaming service, sources close to the development have told exchange4media. However, Gandhi, it is believed, will continue to be stationed in Singapore for his APAC role.
“MENA has come as an additional role for him, so, it’s unlikely that he will shift the base,” said a source. A mail sent to Amazon Prime Video to participate in the story did not receive a revert till the filing of this story.
In his current role, Gandhi drives Prime Video’s business holistically in the region across SVOD, TVOD (Prime Video Store) and Prime Video channels. Gandhi’s remit spans across the entire APAC region, which includes some of the biggest international locales for Prime Video like Japan and India, as well as countries like Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, where Prime Video expanded its footprint more recently.
Gandhi joined Amazon in 2018 and served as the Country Head for Prime Video in India before taking his role as the head of Prime Video APAC. He is believed to be instrumental in doubling down on tentpole original content, pioneering industry-firsts like direct-to-service world premieres of Indian movies across languages, as well as co-productions and creation of original films.
Gandhi is a seasoned industry leader with 25 years of experience across consumer tech, advertising, media and entertainment. Prior to Amazon, he has worked in companies such as Viacom18, NDTV Imagine, Star India and Turner International in various leadership roles. He moved into the video streaming space in 2015, and set up, launched and ran Viacom 18’s streaming service VOOT. Gaurav has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University and MBA in Advertising & Communication Management from NMIMS Mumbai. In his current role at Amazon, he is based out of Singapore.
